Tiger Airways replaces CEO with SIA executive
Airways Holdings said it would be replacing its CEO with an executive
from its largest shareholder, Singapore Airlines (SIA). Lee Lik Hsin, a
20-year veteran of SIA, which owns 40 per cent of Tiger, will become
chief executive from May 12, replacing Koay Peng Yen who joined Tiger
less than two years ago, Tiger said in a statement on Wednesday.
Tigerair Singapore is
joining AirAsia in launching services to Xian as Southeast Asian low-cost
carrier groups strive to further build their networks in mainland China. The
China-Southeast Asia market remains relatively un-penetrated, providing
opportunities for LCCs as the regional market becomes saturated.
Xian in May-2014 will become Tigerairís sixth destination in mainland China,
three of which have been launched over the last seven months. China has become a
focus for Tigerair as it looks for new medium-haul routes to soak up additional
aircraft and with rival Singapore-based LCC Jetstar Asia reducing its China

Tigerair offers direct-to-gate service at Changi
Tigerair has started allowing passengers to bypass the check-in counters at
Singaporeís Changi Airport.
The new "direct-to-gate" service allows passengers without checked-in baggage or
visa requirements to check-in online and proceed straight to immigration.
